Brief Description | Shawl with large cream centre, end borders of large pines with circular flower shape at base and side borders of medium pines. All round narrow floral border. Notes state that borders and ends show turkish influence and describe as banana silk from silk mill, Port Hopetown. Also that the shawl appears to consist of parts from 2 identical patterned but differently coloured long shawls, possibly altered in the 1820s to the more fashionable square shape. |
