Brief Description | Shawl with large brown centre. All round border of floral pattern on brown background and 2 stripes of floral pattern on white background. Notes describe as Manlet shawl, James Mitchell, late 18th century. Noted also that similar designs on chocolate ground are found on fruit services and tea sets made by Scots of portobello in the late 18th century from the local dark coloured terracotta clay. |
