How to search the Catalogue.
Simple search
The simple search is accessed In the search box in the top right hand corner of the home page. It is a 'Google-style' search box and by default, the simple search will search only across the Title and Description fields. Where more than one term is entered, the default is an AND search. This search box is only visible on the home page.


Searching the Salamanca Archive Catalogue
To browse the entire catalogue of the Salamanca Archive simply type in the word ‘Salamanca’ in the simple search box in the top right hand corner of the St Patricks Archive Catalogue homepage. Hit ‘search’ and all records from the collection will show. You can browse through the collection by clicking on the ‘next button’ or clicking into the individual record where you will find further information.

If you want to see the hierarchical structure of the collection you can do so by following the directions above and clicking into any individual record. This will open up the record for you.

The catalogue is divided into four levels:
Fonds
Series (Title and date only)
Subseries (Title and date only)
Item/File (Title, date and description)

Advanced search
The advanced search enables you to perform “Any text Field” searches, and also to search specifically on certain fields

Refine advanced search criteria
By default, a search will look for the word or words you have entered. However you can choose to change the default search criteria by clicking the “Refine Search Criteria” option. There are three ways to refine the search option:
With all the words
With at least one of the words
Without the words
