TitleThe Sequoias - John Clayton
AdminHistoryJohn Clayton (1847 - 1933) was elected as a Fellow of the Linnean Society on the 18 June 1903, having been nominated by W. West, G.S. West, W.D. Roebuck, T.W. Woodhead and G.T. Porritt. He withdrew his membership on 30 April 1924. Clayton had a particular interest in old trees (particularly Oak and Sequoias) and was President of the Bradford Naturalists and the Microscopical Society 1887. He died on 20 December 1933.
DescriptionLithographed hand-written text by John Clayton in folder entitled 'The Sequoias, with special reference to the section of the Big Tree named "Mark Twain"', dated (Bradford) 17 February 1896. Also includes tables, diagrams and photographs. Also includes photographs of Redwood trees and people. On the first page is the following note (in pencil): '25/11/1904'.
