AdminHistoryJean-Baptiste Mougeot (25 September 1776, Bruyères – 5 December 1858) was a French physician, geologist and botanist. As a botanist, he was mainly known as a collector of cryptogamic exsiccatae, a tradition carried on by his son, but he also collected some phanerogams.
Description1 volume entitled 'Mougeot' containing letters and notes (in French) to Professor Achille Richard, dated 1811-1852, and 1 letter to H.A. Weddell, dated 1858, from Jean baptiste Mougeot. 1 of the letters is from L. de Waenker.

AcquisitionT.S. note inserted at the beginning of volume: 'These letters were found lying in the various fasciculi of Mougeot and Nestler, which were bequeathed to the Linnean Society by H.A. Weddell, and reached us in the autumn of 1895. By sanction of Madame Weddell these sets were transferred to the British Museum (Natural History) [now the Natural History Museum] with the exception of these letters which were reserved by order of the Council of the [Linnean] society'.
