| AdminHistory | Thomas Rackett (1757–1841) was an English clergyman.
Rackett was born in 1757, the son of Thomas Rackett of Wandsworth, Surrey. He received an education in drawing from Theodosius Forrest and Paul Sandby and he went on to matriculate at University College, Oxford. He graduated B.A. in 1777 and M.A. in 1780. Following his graduation he became rector of Spetisbury with Charlton-Marshall, in Dorset, and held the living for more than 60 years. In 1781, he married Dorothea, daughter of James Tattersall, rector of St. Paul's, Covent Garden, and of Streatham. His interests were wide ranging including natural history, music, and antiquarian studies. He was a fellow of the Royal Society, of the Society of Antiquaries of London, and of the Linnean Society. He died at Spetisbury on 29 November 1841. |
