With watercolour drawings (Plates I & II) and 3 letters from Charles Darwin relating to multiple papers by Weale. The first letter (3 ff.), dated 28 July 1870, communicates the papers of Weale (No. 1791-1794) [SP/1250-1253] to the Linnean Society in accordance with Weale's request, along with preliminary thoughts by Darwin. In the second letter (1 f.), dated 4 March [1871], Darwin accepts request to give opinion on Weale's papers and refers to fatigue from publishing his book 'The Descent of Man'. The third letter, dated 11 March 1871 (7 ff.) is a report on Weale's papers (No. 1791-1794) [SP/1250-1253]. |
