'The thesis sets out to explore the work of five contemporary women artist's, namely Beth Fisher, Joyce Cairns (two artist working within Aberdeen area), Cindy Sherman, Barbara Kruger and Mary Kelly, in order to "find out weather women still regarded gender as an unimportant bone of contention considering that we are now suppose to be living in a post-feminist era." The research shows that they do, and that each one deals with the consequences of culturally constructed gender roles in a very unique way'.
